As a result of the recent triennial tendering process, the States of Jersey has awarded Motor Mall Peugeot the contract to supply and maintain its fleet of lease cars from 2007 until 2010. This was the first time Motor Mall had tendered for the contract, and by offering the cheapest price and best value won the tender at the first attempt.
"We are delighted to have won the tender to supply the States of Jersey for the next three years, said Ashley Dee, General Manager at Motor Mall. "We were confident that with our buying power with manufacturers and the huge choice of franchises we have, that we would be able to provide the lowest costs for the States"
The Transport and Technical Services Department, who manage the contract on behalf of the States, confirmed the Motor Mall tender was the lowest price of all those received.
The new fleet will be from Peugeot who have worked with Motor Mall throughout the tender. All the cars will be sourced and registered in Jersey, and will all be re-sold as used on the island. The cars will supplied for a fixed period of time on a lease basis providing the States the ability to fix their budgets and control costs. The specification set by the States of Jersey is for base level cars. However most of the cars supplied will far exceed the minimum specification because this improves their re-sale values and so are better value for all concerned.
"From the outset we wanted to be able to support the States. Driving down the cost of motoring in Jersey is something we keep on about at Motor Mall. We sell the cheapest petrol and the cheapest diesel in Jersey and this contract is just another example of the Motor Mall providing the best value for money" says Ashley Dee.
This is the fourth tender that the Transport and Technical Services Department has let for the supply of lease cars for all States departments. Tendering is coordinated to ensure that the best possible value for money is obtained for the States. "We are very pleased with outcome of the tendering process and look forward to working with Motor Mall in 2007 and for the next 3 years," said John Richardson, Chief Officer, Transport and Technical Services.
